Wear your party hats and join us on the Ranch for a celebration of one of our favorite grape varieties - Zinfandel! Zinfandel has been on the Hendry Ranch for a long, long time, and helped George Hendry craft a name for himself as a farmer of high-quality grapes. His love for the vines is reflected in his delicious and award-winning Zinfandels, which routinely get top marks from wine reviewers and publications. Come celebrate this fantastic wine with us!
We have planned an entire afternoon's worth of activities. You can participate in as many or as few as you like! Your ticket includes access to all activities, but you are welcome to tailor the day to your interests. The schedule is as follows:
12:30 pm - 1:30 pm: Origins of Zinfandel Vineyard Manager and Zinfandel enthusiast Mike Hendry will give a short talk on the origins of Zinfandel and its history in California. This discussion will feature a tasting of Italian Primitivo and Croatian Crljenak - international versions of what we call Zinfandel.
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm: BBQ Lunch & Live Band Enjoy mouth-watering BBQ - the perfect pairing for Zin! - from old-school local favorite Red Rock Café. While you eat, enjoy the musical stylings of another local favorite, the band Desperate Men! Owner, winemaker and Zinfandel farmer George Hendry will be in attendance to say hello and raise a glass of Zin with guests.
2:30 pm - 3:30 pm: Vineyard Scavenger Hunt Soak in the beauty of the Hendry Vineyard and compete for prizes on a post-lunch Scavenger Hunt! Want to enjoy vines and views but not in a hunting mood? That's fine too - vineyard maps will ve avaialble for anyone looking to enjoy a walk.
All Day: The following activities will be available all afternoon. Try your hand at them during lunch or between marquee events.
- Blind Tasting: You know and love them, but when blind, can you tell the Hendry Zinfandels apart?
- Cheese Pairing: Summon your inner somm and pair our Zinfandels with various cheese in a quest for the perfect pairing.
- Library Tasting: Enjoy a sampling of older Zinfandels from the Hendry library, and taste for yourself how beautifully Zin can age.
Club members: $50 | Non-club members: $75
All attendees must be 21+. Apologies, no pets permitted due to the nature of the event.
